Emmett D. Carson, Ph.D.
Social Innovator

This event hosted by Dr. Emmett D. Carson will bring together leaders from Black charitable funds to discuss critical challenges facing the African American community and the innovative responses of Black philanthropic organizations. The forum will be livestreamed and will feature curated questions from a national audience, providing a unique opportunity to engage with thought leaders on issues such as voting rights, African American history in public education, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts, and reproductive rights.

This forum is designed to provide a platform for leaders to share their strategies and insights on how their organizations are addressing these pressing challenges. The discussions will be integral to a forthcoming paper on the role of Black charitable funds in this pivotal moment in African American history. Join us in this essential conversation and be part of shaping the future of Black philanthropy. Your engagement and questions will contribute to a broader understanding and collective action towards these critical issues.

A social innovator, Dr. Carson has helped create new institutions, programs and research in the pursuit of a more equitable society. He was the first COO of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, founding CEO of Silicon Valley Community Foundation, and CEO of The Minneapolis Foundation. He has authored seminal research on African American giving and philanthropy. His graduate and undergraduate degrees are from Princeton University and Morehouse College, respectively
